RULES & SAFETY TOOLS

RULES & SAFETY TOOLS

RULES
    AGE REQUIREMENTS
This game is designed around the fight against a horrific fascist Empire and will put the evils of said Empire on full display. This game is built around mature content, and as such we require all players to be at least 18 years old to play in this game.

    BEHAVIOR
In general, we expect players to act as adults and treat each other with respect. The mod team will generally not involve itself in mediation of player disputes. Should players choose to harass other players, continually violate boundaries, or otherwise fail to show proper respect and consideration, they will receive a warning, with future violations leading to suspensions and bans.

    PLAYER DISPUTES
Some players will not get along. In cases in which a player, for whatever reason, does not wish to engage with another, that player may request another player not interact with them. In these circumstances, we expect players to honor this wish and disengage respectfully. This is not to be used as a harassment campaign, and the mod team will investigate if a large number of players make this request against a single target to prevent them from being able to play in the game. This tool is only to be used for personal comfort, not coordinated attacks.

    INFO-MODDING AND GOD-MODDING
Info-Modding refers to using out-of-character information you hold as a player for in-character interactions your character would not know about. God-Modding refers to dictating the actions of another player's character instead of allowing them to respond. Both of these acts are forbidden. Taking part in either activity will result in a warning, with future violations leading to suspensions and bans.

    IC/OOC SEPARATION
Players are expected to understand that negative in-character reactions are not reflective of out-of-character feelings. Just because another player's character does not get along with yours does not mean the player has a personal issue with you. Players are expected to keep out of character and in character separate.

    MATURE CONTENT AND CONTENT WARNINGS
While this is a game that centers around mature concepts, just because every player signs on to general mature content does not mean that all content is for everyone. Players are expected to post content warnings for their posts when they engage in content people might find objectionable. Examples of such content are sex, gore, slavery, and torture. Players are expected to be open about their post content so players can determine if they are in the appropriate headspace to deal with that content. When unsure if content is objectionable, always err on the side of caution and mark it - just to be safe.

    SAFETY TOOL UTILIZATION
The Safety Tools used in this RP are geared toward allowing players to disengage or fade to black on scenes that are making them uncomfortable or pushing their boundaries. We expect players to respect the cards when presented, and understand that the use of a card is not an indictment of them as a player, simply an indication that a scene has gone too far in a direction the player is not comfortable with and that the player is expressing a desire to either disengage or reign it back in. Harassment against players who use safety tools will not be tolerated, and failure to abide by a card when played will result in a warning, with future violations leading to suspensions and bans.

    COMMUNICATION
Because the game deals in mature themes, we expect feelings can at time run high. While not required, we expect players to communicate with each other on boundaries and expectations when plotting together. We want everyone to have fun and play out their awesome plots, but we also want them to be respectful of personal boundaries and the best way to achieve that is making sure you know what your RP partners are up for before you get into it.

    WARNINGS, SUSPENSIONS, AND BANS
If a player is found to violate the game rules, they will first receive a warning from a mod team. On a second violation, the player will be suspended for 1 week - the player may choose to utilize a hiatus if they wish to mitigate the time lost for tagging. On a third violation, the player will be suspended for 2 weeks, and on a fourth violation a player will be suspended for a full month, with their characters being automatically placed on hiatus for the duration of time. The fifth infraction will result in a ban. Players who violate the rules in particularly egregious ways may be banned immediately, depending on the nature of their violation.

SAFETY TOOLS
The Safety Tools presented here are adapted from the TTRPG Safety Toolkit by Kienna Shaw and Lauren Bryant-Monk. They are intended to give players a way to OOC-ly signal discomfort with scenes that are pushing their boundaries, allowing them to safely bow out or otherwise amend the scene to fit their comfort level. Utilization of these tools is open and expected of all players, and players may not

    X CARD
The X Card can be played by posting a comment with X in the header and no text (to post a no text comment, simply include some HTML tags such as a single < i > but without the spacing). The X card indicates that the player is uncomfortable with the direction of the scene, and players may either rewind, skip, or change the ongoing content if they wish to continue. Players are encouraged to use bracketed OOC communication in the thread to work out what the problem is and how to best resolve it, or they may reach out to each other directly outside of the game if that suits their preferences.

    N CARD
The N Card can be played by posting a comment with N in the header and no text (to post a no text comment, simply include some HTML tags such as a single < i > but without the spacing). This card is to be played when a player feels like the content they are taking part in will be escalating to an X. When an N card is played, the players may elect to change the content or otherwise fade to black. Players are encouraged to use bracketed OOC communication in the thread to work out what the problem is and how to best resolve it, or they may reach out to each other directly outside of the game if that suits their preferences.

    O CARD
The O Card can be played by posting a comment with O in the header and no text (to post a no text comment, simply include some HTML tags such as a single < i > but without the spacing). The O Card is an indication that a player is fine with proceeding. This can be played after a discussion following the playing of an X or N card where a suitable resolution is reached, or if a player wants to assure their fellow players that they are good to continue. If a log is reaching an objectionable spot, players are encouraged to title their post with O? to ensure that the other players are fine with the direction the log is taking, players can simply type O in their response title to give the all-clear that the scene may continue as is.
