For AU names: are Germanic naming conventions so overwhelmingly dominant because they're mandated by the state? So, say, if a character joined the Crimson Corsairs and did some research on what their cultural heritage would've been before the empire, could they pick a codename based on that heritage (i.e. part of their OU name)?
